Hey ya'll, a quick post on some thoughts my grandpa had in a little thing he wrote on the Glory of God...
- In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. (Eph 1) God is continuously at work, putting forth his awesome creative power and energy, working all things toward the fullfillment of his purposes (John 5:17- Jesus says that "My Father is always at his work" which Jesus revealed). That means from what we see on TV from around the world to the very small details of our life, all is being worked by God's omnipotent hand to the praise of his Glory.
- John 14:13 - "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father." The Glory of God was to be accomplished through our asking things in Jesus' name. ... In this Jesus revealed the motivation of prayers that would move him to action. (For the Glory of God) He was not setting forth a formula with which we could manipulate him (to get whatever we think we want).
- John 17:22 "I have given them (that's us) the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me." (Jesus has given us the glory he had!) Jesus intention and expectation was that we would do the works he did, the way he did them, and for the same reason.
- God's Plan for the Church (Eph 3:20-21)- "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." (Glory should come to God from the Church) Once we yield our own agendas for His agenda, the glory of God (the visible evidence of His presence) will be manifested through us. The tendency is to picture in our minds how God will do this. Since he does far beyond anything we could ask or imagine, we best not, unless he has revealed to us how he intends to do it. I am not to lean on my own understanding (Prov 3:5-6) lest I inadvertantly once again insert my agenda in place of his glorious purpose.
- The sovereign God, my heavenly Father, is working every detail of my life so that others will see the unmistakable evidence of his prescence (in me) and give him praise. When and how he will do this is not the point... at this point he has not revealed it to me how he will do this (in a specific situation) but he has assured me that he is working to this end in my life.
